Chancenkarte

The Chancenkarte – your advantage as an employer

Since June 2024, skilled workers from outside the EU with a university degree or at least two years of vocational training can come to Germany for up to one year to look for a job with the Chancenkarte (Opportunity Card) – no prior employment contract needed. For you: less risk, faster start.

Residence permits and recognition are decided by the competent authorities. We prepare the complete file and support the process.

  1. 01

    On-site trial work

Chancenkarte holders may do trial work for up to two weeks. You meet the person in your team before you sign.

  2. 02

    Part-time up to 20 h/week

A part-time start is already possible during the job search – for example to join the team step by step.

  3. 03

    Switch without leaving Germany

With your employment contract, the professional switches to a work residence permit directly in Germany – no need to leave the country.

  4. 04

    Language basics covered

German A1 (or English B2) is a basic requirement. Our talent comes with certified A1/A2 and keeps learning.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions from employers

Is A1/A2 German enough for everyday work?

It depends on the occupation. In the skilled trades, logistics and kitchens, A2 is enough to start in an established team; many IT teams work in English. In nursing, full recognition usually requires B1/B2 – the entry route is the recognition partnership from A2. Our talent keeps learning, aiming for B1 within the first year.

What exactly is the Chancenkarte?

A residence permit for job seeking under § 20a of the German Residence Act, valid for up to one year. Requirements include a university degree or at least two years of vocational training, German A1 or English B2, enough points (unless the qualification is fully recognised) and proof of financial means.

Do the professionals need a university degree?

No. In the skilled trades, nursing, logistics and hospitality, a qualified vocational training of at least two years counts. IT specialists can even obtain the EU Blue Card without a formal qualification if they have three years of relevant experience within the last seven years and meet the salary threshold.

What about regulated professions such as nursing?

Nurses need professional recognition in Germany. Through the recognition partnership (§ 16d Residence Act) they can enter with German A2, work for you and complete recognition in parallel – you commit to making that possible. We prepare the documents for the recognition procedure.

How does hiring work legally?

You hire the professional directly at your company. We prepare the visa or residence permit documents; if needed, the fast-track procedure for skilled workers (§ 81a Residence Act) can be used.

How anonymous are the profiles?

You see occupation, skills, experience, language level and visa status – no names, photos or contact details. Once you express interest, we connect you as soon as the candidate agrees.
